DART experiencing major delays due to smoking train, car blocking tracks

According to DART, a train’s pantograph was smoking and a vehicle stopped on the tracks.

DALLAS — UPDATE: DART has since cleared the issues and resumed normal operations.

DART rail passengers should expect significant delays after two issues impeded DART trains.

According to a DART spokesperson, a train’s pantograph was smoking between the Cityplace and Mockingbird stations , affecting Blue Line riders. A pantograph is a part that connects a train to the electric line above and draws power to move the train forward.

DART officials told WFAA the pantograph did not catch fire but it did smoke and cause a train stoppage. While DART works on repairs, trains will only be operating on one track.

Additionally, a car is stopped on both tracks near the Ledbetter station, according to DART. Officials say passengers should expect around a 30-minute delay.
