DART is simplifying its fare structure and slightly increasing the price, the agency announced Tuesday.

DALLAS — DART will slightly increase its fares next month, the agency announced Tuesday.

The new structure is intended to offer more clarity and convenience for riders, the agency said in a press release. The biggest change is the elimination of DART’s annual pass, which used to cost riders $960. DART also condensed its single-ride fares from three different prices to one flat fee of $3 for a three-hour pass and a discounted rate of $1.50, the release states.

The price of day passes will remain the same, $6, while the price of monthly passes will increase by $30 to $126, the release states. Paratransit prices will also remain the same.

“Our goal is to make fares more straightforward and equitable for all passengers,” said Jing Xu Assistant Vice President of Service Planning and Development for DART.

Also starting March 1, veterans will receive a 50% discount, according to DART. The agency will also offer a bulk sales discount for special events, companies and schools, the release states.
