DFW snow forecast timeline: When’s the best time to take your pet outside?

Wednesday offers the best opportunity for walks, especially late morning through most of the afternoon.

DALLAS — It’ll be tricky to find the perfect time to take your restless pups outside as less-than-ideal conditions settle in later this week.

Wednesday offers the best opportunity for walks, especially late morning through most of the afternoon. Conditions will remain dry, and temperatures will climb above freezing. Keep in mind that some roads and sidewalks have been treated, so be sure to wipe your pet’s paws after walks. Temperatures will drop into the low 30s after sunset, so it’s best to wrap up outdoor time before then.

Thursday presents a much smaller walking window. Winter weather will peak during the afternoon, bringing consistent and heavy precipitation at times. The morning, while cold, is your best chance to take your pets outside. Any wintry mix occurring early in the day is unlikely to accumulate, so aim to get walks done early and plan to stay indoors for the rest of the day.

Friday looks more promising, but it’s best to wait until midday. Winter weather will move out of North Texas early in the day, and by midday, conditions should improve as temperatures warm and the sun begins to peek through.
