Sunday morning storms

It was a very busy Saturday night due to a long-lived severe storm that likely produced a few tornadoes — and caused abundant damage — southern Cooke County and northern Denton, Collin and Hunt counties. We will know more about that storm in the days to come.

Meanwhile, another cluster of storms moved through North Texas around sunrise Sunday morning. This round of rain continues to move east as it weakens. Once this batch of rain moves out, we will be done with rain for the rest of Sunday.

One thing to note – winds are picked up behind the line of showers and storms.

The rest of the day will be rain-free, warm and humid.

Warm Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend will be feeling A LOT like summer.

Did you see Sunday’s high? It’ll be close to record-breaking. The record high for Sunday is 99° set in 1980. Actual temperatures get close to the triple digits with heat index values easily over 100° for most.

As such, a Heat Advisory will be in place for some southern counties in North Texas.

The good news? A front will come in late Sunday into Monday. It’ll help knock temps down to the low 90s with slightly lower humidity.

Most of Monday looks dry and rain-free, just warm. But the potential for storms will return late Monday.

14-Day Forecast

Rain and storm chances increase Monday night and as we head into June. At times, severe weather will be possible. With an already saturated ground, flooding will also be a concern this upcoming week.

It is important to keep up to date with the latest forecast daily. What has already been a rainy spring looks to continue in the coming weeks.
