DFW Weather: Latest forecast for the rest of 2024 and timeline for New Year’s Eve cold front

Warmer than normal temperatures dominate the end of 2024.

DALLAS — Watch live radar and forecast updates on WFAA+ and download the WFAA app for alerts from our team.

Key takeaways:

  • Warmer than normal through 2024
  • A cold front in time for New Year’s Eve
  • Minimal rain chances

Next chance of rain

It will NOT be like the Christmas Eve rain or the day after Christmas rain where 1″+ fell for some… Our next chance for a little rain will be on Saturday, but the best chance will be in East Texas. Areas east of Dallas could have a stray shower or storm in the morning or early afternoon. Nothing severe. Most will not see a drop of rain all weekend long.

Rest of the weekend

One word… PLEASANT. Temperatures continue their climb through the weekend. While I know these temperatures this late in December don’t bring joy to everyone… it is really hard to complain about highs near 70 in the middle of winter.

Temperatures

The trend for most of the remainder of 2024 is up. High temperatures are expected to be warmer than normal to wrap up 2024. However… the very last day, when it matters the most for outdoor activities… a cold front looks to sweep through and knock us down to cooler, but closer to normal, highs. The forecast highs on NYE at this time look to be in the middle 50s after highs in the 60s and 70s.

14 Day

Overall, the pattern remains fairly tame. New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day plans look cool and dry!
