DFW Weather: So long fall, hotter temps return for the last full weekend of summer

Temps soar to warmer than normal for mid-September. The summer-like conditions are expected to last through next week.

DALLAS — There is just over one week of summer left and it’ll sure feel like it.

Here’s what to expect in North Texas through the weekend.

Quick Notes:

  • Humidity increases this weekend
  • Summer heat returns Friday and this weekend
  • Some could hit 100F

This weekend

Temps are on the rise Friday and through the weekend. Highs will be in the 90s Friday and mid to upper 90s Saturday and Sunday. Some spots in western North Texas could even reach the 100s. North Texas is in between two tropical systems. The system to the southwest could bring an influx of moisture into the state. This brings slim rain chances to North Texas on Sunday. While most stay rain-free, we can’t rule out a stray shower or storm. Due to the higher humidity, the heat index will likely be in the low 100s on Saturday and Sunday.

Next week

Warmer-than-normal temperatures and mostly rain-free conditions continue into next week. Most locations look to bring highs into the 90s for most of next week. It is not uncommon to see triple-digit heat in September, but it does look like DFW stays clear of the 100s.  A cold front could bring in some relief with rain chances for next weekend. This could help bring the fall-feeling back into the region. Be sure to keep checking back for that update!
