Strong storms will be possible Monday and Tuesday while the rest of the week will feature high heat.
DALLAS — After an active weekend of severe storms — and the warmest day of the year so far — scattered severe storms will be possible again across North Texas on Monday and Tuesday.
It is also important to keep in mind that dangerous heat is also in this week’s forecast.

Monday
Scattered strong to severe storms are possible Monday afternoon.
The main concern is ping-pong ball-sized hail or larger. Strong winds and locally heavy rainfall leading to minor flooding are also possible.
There is a low-end tornado threat mainly in the Enhanced Risk area, which is southwest of Dallas-Fort Worth.
It is important to note that storms will not be widespread. Storm coverage for North Texas will be about 40%. Some locations will go all day without seeing a drop of rain!
Isolated storms will develop west of Dallas-Fort Worth mid-afternoon. Storms will generally move east-southeast through the evening.
The severe threat will be between 4 pm and 10 pm.
Tuesday
Isolated to scattered storms will develop Tuesday afternoon.
The main risk will be large hail and strong, damaging winds. Locally heavy rainfall will also be possible. A big portion of North Texas, including Dallas-Fort Worth, is under a Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) for severe weather.
The severe threat window for Tuesday will be between 3 pm and 9 pm.
Again, it’s important to note that these storms will also not be widespread. Storm coverage for North Texas will be about 20%, and many locations won’t see a drop of rain at all.
Summer heat
Sunday was the warmest day of the year so far with a high of 99° reported at DFW Airport.
The heat will be less intense to start the week, but the lower intensity will be short-lived. Highs will likely reach 100° or higher on Friday and throughout Father’s Day weekend.
Dangerous heat will be possible most of the week too, as heat index values can range from 100 to 110!
