After a streak of below normal temps, real summer has returned to North Texas.

Quick Notes:

  • Saturday morning rain clears out
  • Not as hot this weekend
  • Heat turns up next week with more triple digits

Not as hot, but hot weekend

A cold front pushed through North Texas early Saturday. This brought on a few storms across the area. Rain will thin out as it pushes south the rest of the day. A few storms could still develop this afternoon, but this will mainly be southwest of DFW. Morning rain helped cool down temps a bit to kick off Saturday. This will keep highs out of the 100s across DFW for this afternoon. Saturday morning’s cold front brought along a northeast wind. This helps keep humidity a tad lower than this previous week. As a result, heat index generally stays below 105° through the weekend. That is what we mean by “not as hot” for Saturday and Sunday.

The heat dome returns

After the weekend, high pressure settles back in over North Texas. Rain will struggle to develop and temperatures will climb. While the heat index won’t be a huge factor this weekend, it will be next week. A southerly wind will bring humidity back to the area. As highs climb to the 100s, the heat index could climb over 105 for a few afternoons next week. Be sure to prep now for next week’s heat.
