BROWNSVILLE, Texas – DHR Health Brownsville will officially open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony next week, according to top executives.
DHR Health Brownsville opened unofficially a couple of weeks ago and is taking new patients on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
It is a three-story hospital with 59 beds, an emergency room, an intensive care unit, six operating rooms and four more coming soon.
The Rio Grande Guardian International News Service met up with Dr. Manish Singh, CEO of DHR Health, and Aida Coronado Garcia, who runs the Brownsville facility, at the 2023 Brownsville State of the City Address, held at Brownsville Events Center.
Singh confirmed that the official opening will be on Wednesday, April 26.
“DHR Health Brownsville is committed to providing high-quality healthcare services to our patients. Our hospital is designed with your health and well being in mind. From the latest technology to our experienced healthcare professionals, we’re committed to serving our community,” Singh said.
Coronado Garcia said DHR Health Brownsville is revolutionizing the healthcare landscape in the Rio Grande Valley and is continuously raising the standard of care to best serve local residents.
“Our goal is to ensure that patients have the best options available when choosing a healthcare system,” Coronado Garcia said.

Singh said he is proud that Coronado Garcia is running the Brownsville facility, pointing out that she was honored this week with a proclamation by Brownsville City Commission. Here it is:

WHEREAS Aida Coronado Garcia graduated from Rivera High School in 1997, she discovered her love for helping others, pursued her lifetime goal and became a nurse. Aida Coronado Garcia completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Brownsville and her Master of Science in Nursing at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Aida holds a national board of certification with the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse practitioner. She began her nursing career 17 years ago in a hospital focusing on critical care and pediatric oncology. She then went on to join the United States Public Health Service as a commissioned officer. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and Texas Nurse Practitioners, and
WHEREAS Aida Coronado Garcia is the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President for DHR Health Hospital in Brownsville Texas. Aida Coronado Garcia is the first Hispanic woman from Brownsville, Texas to lead the opening of the largest physical-owned hospital in Cameron County, and now one of the largest in the entire nation. Her vision to create a world class health system to advance medicine and increase access for the community, she serves by empowering caregivers to heal through compassion, knowledge, innovation, integrated care and excellence, and
WHEREAS Aida Coronado Garcia is the chairwoman for DHR Health Advanced Practice Providers Practice Improvement Committee and Allied Health Committee. Aida also serves on the Medical Executive Committee representing all Advanced Practice Providers credentialed at DHR Health, and
