Did anyone win the $489M Mega Millions jackpot?

NEW YORK — The Mega Millions lottery jackpot is on the rise, up to $522 million after Tuesday’s drawing failed to produce a winner.

The winning numbers for Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing were 12-18-48-57-62, Mega Ball: 4 and Megaplier: 5. 

The cash option for Tuesday’s drawing was worth $226.4 million.

There were no jackpot winners and no new millionaires after the Tuesday drawing. To win a million dollars, players had to guess the five white balls right, and the jackpot required the correct number on the sixth, gold ball. 

Twelve tickets did match four white balls plus the Mega Ball to win $10,000 and two of those are worth $50,000 each because they also included the optional Megaplier. 

This year has already seen two billion-dollar lottery jackpot winners. One lucky ticket in New Jersey won a $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot in March, and a Powerball ticket in Oregon hit the jackpot worth more than $1.3 billion in April. 

Mega Millions hasn’t seen a jackpot winner since the $1.13 billion jackpot winner in March.

The odds of winning the jackpot are one in 302,575,350.

The winning numbers were 12-18-48-57-62, Mega Ball: 4 and Megaplier: 5.

When a winner matches all five numbers and the Mega Ball, they have the option to take the full jackpot paid out as an annuity over 30 years, or a smaller lump sum cash payout. Winners almost always take the cash option.

Mega Millions drawings take place on Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. Eastern Time.
