Direction to Success: TAMU-K’s ‘Hoggie Days’ wants to see you on campus

The university requires first-year students to attend a mandatory Hoggie Days orientation to learn more about what to expect once they get to campus.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Attention future students of higher education!

Texas A&M-Kingsville is inviting you to sign up for their ‘Hoggie Days’ student orientation.

Director of the Welcome Center and On-Campus Recruitment events, Omar Peña says the university is celebrating their centennial year, and incoming students are in for an exciting first few years on campus.

If you have not attended, there is still plenty of time, according to Peña. There are five Hoggie Days left.

Peña said the orientation is an opportunity for students to learn about popular programs that the university offers, including business, engineering, agriculture and education.

Students who have not yet applied to the college still have the opportunity to do so through ApplyTexas.org. Once admitted, you can attend the next Hoggie Day and register for classes.

Need help with funding your education? You can learn all about FAFSA and other scholarship opportunities at the Hoggie Days orientation.

What you can expect at Hoggie Days:

  • Learn more about your intended degree plan
  • Receive academic advising and register for Fall courses
  • Meet and connect with the Javelina community – students, faculty, and staff
  • Discover more about Javelina Nation traditions and history

Peña discussed the excitement around the campuses’ upcoming 100-year anniversary, saying “2025 is going to be a great, great year for us.

“A lot of our alumni will remember the name A&I… we joined the A&M system in 1993, so… great opportunities there.”

The Welcome Center Director says he is looking forward to sharing the opportunities available to students at the upcoming registration events.
