DNT widening project means growing pains for Frisco drivers

Traffic will be cut down to one lane for multiple nights this week.

DALLAS — Nightly closures are in place on the Dallas North Tollway (DNT) for a widening project

Between May 20 and May 23, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., there will be one left or right northbound lane closed between Eldorado Parkway and PGA Parkway. There will also be one southbound left lane closed between PGA Parkway and Eldorado Parkway.

Signs will be placed to notify drivers of the closures. These closures may be delayed due to weather conditions.

Drivers are advised to be cautious in the construction zone, as the chance for accidents can increase.

These closures are necessary for workers to move northbound traffic onto the new lanes of the northbound bridge. Within the next few weeks, weather permitting, southbound traffic will also be shifted to the new bridge. This will allow for the demolition and reconstruction of the southbound bridge.

The reconstruction period is expected to last for several weeks. During this time, both northbound and southbound lanes will be reduced to two lanes and a lower speed limit will be enforced.
