Driver arrested after being involved in 2 hit-and-runs in the same morning, police say

Police arrested a 29-year-old woman who they say was involved in two hit-and-runs Tuesday in Arlington.

ARLINGTON, Texas — A 29-year-old woman was arrested and charged on several outstanding warrants after police say she was involved in two hit-and-runs just blocks away from each other.

The Arlington Police Department (APD) said officers responded at about 8 a.m. Tuesday to the intersection of North Mesquite Street and Slaughter Street for a call about a hit-and-run. The driver of a 2012 Ford Focus told officers she was traveling northbound along Mesquite Street when a Chevrolet Avalanche traveling westbound along Slaughter Street ran a stop sign, collided with her, then continued driving, according to APD.

While officers were at the scene on North Mesquite Street and Slaughter Street, APD said they got a report of another hit-and-run that also involved a Chevrolet Avalanche at the intersection of East Randol Mill Road and North Collins Street, which is only a couple of blocks away.

At the East Randol Mill Road and North Collins Street scene, the driver of a Mazda CX5 said she was stopped at the traffic light heading eastbound on Randol Mill Road when a Chevrolet Avalanche rear-ended her, according to police. Instead of stopping, the driver of the Avalanche, later identified as Dezirae Tallie, reportedly cut across a parking lot, continued south on Collins Street and then turned onto Slaughter Street.

Police said they believe the collision at Mesquite Street and Slaughter Street happened while Tallie was fleeing from the hit-and-run at Randol Mill Road and Collins Street. Police identified Tallie’s vehicle and found it in the 500 block of Fuller Street.

According to APD, Tallie had several outstanding warrants out of Hurst and Bedford. She was arrested and booked into the Arlington City Jail on those warrants. Additional charges for the hit-and-run incidents are pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation, APD said.
