Driver arrested after hitting a pedestrian while allegedly intoxicated, police say

 

A pedestrian was killed after he was struck by an intoxicated driver, police said.

MESQUITE, Texas — A pedestrian was killed after an intoxicated driver struck them in Mesquite Saturday, police said. 

Officers responded to a crash around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 near the intersection of Town East Boulevard and  Motley Drive, Mesquite police said in a statement. 

An adult male was found hit by a car and pronounced dead on scene, police said. Investigators found that the driver was intoxicated and was arrested for intoxication manslaughter, according to the statement. 

The victim was later identified as 52-year-old Alan Dallas Belcher. 

The crash is under investigation, police said.  Officials did not release any additional information about the victim or driver.
