Driver injured in crash involving a Fort Worth fire truck, officials say

 

The crash happened at the intersection of West Rosedale Street and South Henderson Street on Thursday morning.

FORT WORTH, Texas — One person was hospitalized after a crash involving a fire engine in Fort Worth, fire officials said.

The Fort Worth Fire Department said the crash happened at the intersection of West Rosedale Street and South Henderson Street around 11 a.m. Thursday. The crash involved FWFD Engine 8 and another vehicle, the fire department said in a news release.

While responding to a structure fire in the 2900 block of Montgomery Street, the SUV and FWFD Engine 8 collided, the department said. FWFD said four firefighters were inside the truck and one driver was inside the SUV.

Firefighters exited the damaged truck and provided first aid to the driver of the SUV, according to fire officials. The unidentified driver was rushed to a nearby hospital in serious condition, FWFD said.

“The Fort Worth Fire Department also extends our sincerest thoughts and prayers to the injured driver, their family and loved ones during this difficult time.,” the department said in a news release.

The four firefighters were also taken to the local hospital to be evaluated for injuries, but have since been released, FWFD said.

The fire department and Fort Worth police are investigating the circumstances around the crash.
