East Texas man drowns after trying to get wallet that fell in lake

   

He went underwater to get the wallet that was floating away and didn’t resurface.

BOWIE COUNTY, Texas — An East Texas man drowned Tuesday afternoon after trying to grab his wallet that fell in a lake. 

Game Warden Capt. Shawn Hervey said game wardens were dispatched around 4:30 p.m. to Lake Wright Patman in Redwater for reports of a drowning near the low water bridge area in Redwater.

The man was identified as Frank Anthony Collier, of Redwater. Officials determined that Collier was trying to grab a wallet that he had in a plastic bag after it fell off the bridge into the water. 

He went underwater to get the wallet that was floating away and didn’t resurface.
