A judge decided to take Krystopher Free into custody for violating his drug probation. At the point, he tried to run.
RUSK, Texas — A Rusk man is facing more charges after he tried to run from police Tuesday while under arrest for a probation violation.
Krystopher Free, 26, of Rusk, was in the 369th District Court for a probation review at the Cherokee County Courthouse. Judge Michael Davis decided to take Free into custody for violating his drug probation. At the point, he tried to run.
A person at the courthouse hit the panic alarm because law enforcement was in a scuffle with Free. Because of the altercation, Free and a bailiff were injured, Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson said.
Free was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The bailiff didn’t need to be taken to the hospital for his injuries.
Free is now also charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest and assault on a public servant. After getting out of the hospital, he was booked into the Cherokee County Jail.
