NEW BOSTON, Texas — An East Texas animal attraction will rebuild after severe weather hammered the area Tuesday.

According to the Giraffe Inn and Safari in New Boston, their facility was hit by strong winds and heavy storms. No staff members were injured, but some of their buildings and pens were heavily damaged.

“What everyone wants to know is how are the animals?,” the Giraffe Inn and Safari said. “They are all fine, located, and secure with the exception of two baby piglets. One we are nursing back to health but one crossed the rainbow bridge. This storm could’ve truly demolished our entire safari if it had moved by as little as twenty feet but Jesus was absolutely with us. We are rattled but resilient. It brings us so much joy to be a fixture in our community and we hope to be able to continue that legacy.”

A GoFundMe has been launched to ensure the animals are “well taken care of.”

“We are immeasurably grateful to anyone willing to help us keep going,” the attraction said.
