Elderly man hospitalized after house fire in Southern Dallas, authorities say

 

An elderly man is hospitalized after a house fire in Southern Dallas. Dallas Fire-Rescue is investigating the cause.

DALLAS — An elderly man was hospitalized after a house fire in Southern Dallas Sunday afternoon, Dallas Fire-Rescue officials said.

According to DFR, firefighters responded to a call about a house fire in the 3900 block of Fortune Lane around 2:36 p.m. on Sunday. Firefighters were told that there was a person inside the one-story home, DFR said.

Crews deployed attack lines to rescue the person and eventually, they found an elderly man inside the home, the department confirmed. Firefighters pulled the man out, and he was taken to the hospital for burn injuries and smoke inhalation, DFR said. His condition is unknown.

DFR said crews were able to officially put the fire out around 2:56 p.m. The department is investigating the cause of the fire, and no other injuries were reported.
