A disabled and elderly woman was rescued from her Fort Worth home by firefighters early Sunday morning.
FORT WORTH, Texas — Two people are in the hospital after a house fire in Fort Worth.
According to Fort Worth Fire Department, crews responded to a house fire near 4700 Eastland St. shortly after midnight Sunday morning. FWFD officials say firefighters were told a woman was trapped in the home.
Firefighters entered the house and found an elderly and disabled woman on the floor of a bedroom, FWFD says. Officials say firefighters were able to get the woman breathing using a CYANOKIT–a drug firefighters use to treat cyanide poisoning from smoke inhalation–and take her to a local hospital in critical condition.
A second victim was able to escape the home and was also taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, FWFD says.
According to fire officials, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
