Elementary student dies after apparent medical emergency at North Texas school

A North Texas elementary schooler died Tuesday morning after an apparent medical emergency at school, according to reports.

The 10-year-old was taken from Donna Park Elementary in Hurst to a local hospital, where he died, according to Tarrant County medical examiner records.

The boy was identified in the records as Esperant Kadieyizil. A cause of death was not yet listed.

Julie McAvoy, the principal of Donna Park Elementary in Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD, sent an email to school families informing them of the fifth-grader’s death , the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported.

“It is normal for students to create a ‘story’ and fill in gaps when they do not know what’s going on, resulting in rumors,” McAvoy said in the letter. “Feel free to let them know that you understand this is a sad situation, you love and care about them, and you do not have any additional information at this time.”

Extra counselors will be available at the elementary school throughout the rest of the week, McAvoy said.
