ELGIN, Texas (KXAN) — Two people are dead, and a suspect remained at large, after shooting late Monday night in Elgin, according to a news release from the Elgin Police Department Tuesday.
Around 11 p.m., officers responded to 817 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. to a report of shots fired, the release said.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found two victims with gunshot wounds, according to police. They died at the scene.
Both victims were identified as Crystal D. Fitzgerald, 43, and Reggie W. Smith, 45, police said.
Elgin PD detectives also identified the suspect as Terrance Wayne Lewis, 35, the release said. Lewis fled the scene, and his current whereabouts as of Tuesday were unknown, police said.

Police said this was believed to be an isolated incident, and there was no ongoing threat to the public.
The Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office, Travis County Sheriff’s Office, Manor Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Lee County Sheriff’s Office and the Austin Police Department’s Air Unit helped respond, according to the release.
