Amid a five-day-long boil water advisory, Ennis’ Interim City Manager Aron Kulhavy resigned from his post.
ENNIS, Texas — Amid a five-day boil water advisory and just two weeks into the job, Ennis’ interim city manager tendered their resignation.
On Thursday, Aron Kulhavy resigned as Ennis’ Interim City Manager. Kulhavy, who previously served as city manager for Huntsville, Texas, started on the job just over two weeks ago on Nov. 20. He filled the interim position after Marty Nelson, who served as the full-time city manager since 2020, resigned abruptly in August.
Ennis Mayor Kameron Raburn appointed Chief of Police Dustin Munn to fill in as Acting City Manager. Munn enters the new position in a challenging spot. The city was under a boil water advisory since Sunday after a water main break that just ended Thursday evening. As a result, Ennis ISD canceled classes for four days straight, giving students and staff an extended Thanksgiving Break.
“Our top priority is ensuring the seamless delivery of city services to our residents. With Chief Munn stepping into the role of Acting City Manager and his dedicated team continuing to lead the Police Department, I am confident we are well-positioned to move forward,” Mayor Raburn stated in a release.
With Munn’s absence as Chief, Assistant Chief Michael Godfrey will serve as Interim Chief of Police.
“Chief Godfrey is an exceptional leader who has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to our department. I have full faith and confidence the Police Department will continue to operate at the highest level under his leadership, ensuring the safety and security of our community,” Munn said.
According to a city spokesperson, Ennis officially signed a contract yesterday to search for a permanent city manager.
