The Jimbo Fisher era is officially over for Texas A&M, as nearly every remaining player under his tenure heard their name called this weekend. For new head coach Mike Elko, it’s time to focus on developing players for the future under his leadership.
Starting things off in the second round, the Green Bay Packers selected Aggies linebacker Edgerrin Cooper with the 45th overall pick, as the highly athletic backer made a name for himself during the 2023 season, accounting for eight sacks, 27 pressures and 19 tackles for loss during his final junior campaign, and could have easily been a first-round pick in previous years.
Later in the third round, the Cincinnati Bengals selected longtime defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson with the 97th overall pick. The veteran nose tackle brings a blend of size, strength, and consistent toughness to a depth chart that needs an upgrade. With just one first-round selection during Fisher’s entire coaching tenure, expect more progress to be made under Elko and Co.
