Dallas motorists traveling on southbound Interstate 45 can expect delays this weekend as the road is narrowed for construction.
The Texas Department of Transportation will narrow the thoroughfare to one lane from near the Interstate 30 interchange and Al Lipscomb Way just south of downtown Dallas beginning Friday night at 8 p.m., weather permitting. The closure, which is for an ongoing bridge maintenance project, will run through 5 a.m. Monday morning.
The left lane of southbound I-45 will remain open during the closure, but the southbound I-45 off-ramp to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will be closed. A signed detour will be in place and drivers should expect significant delays in the area.
The project is expected to wrap up in summer 2025.
