AUSTIN (KXAN) – The temperatures will begin warming up and families will be looking to get out and into nature once again. Texas Parks and Wildlife is trying to get people into parks now that spring has arrived.
Jill Kreindler with Texas Parks says wildlife viewing is one of the main reasons to head to parks over the next few weeks.
“We have the Great Texas Birding Classic which is a big bird watching event that you can sign up for and the registration is open through April 1st.”
The event runs from April 15 through May 15 with details found at BirdingClassic.org.
All state parks also offer free fishing with no license needed, along with paddle and hiking at many of the parks.
Camping is another activity Jill says many will be looking forward to, however, she recommends to book early as spots fill up quickly.
“For overnight camping you can book up to five months in advance so you can have plenty of time and for day use you can book up to 30 days in advance.”
Details on how to book for camping can be found on their website.
