FAA: 2 injured after engine mishap causes small plane to crash into tree in Denton County

   

Two people were hospitalized Friday after a small plane crashed into a tree in Denton County, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The plane, a Boeing Stearman E75, experienced engine issues during takeoff and attempted to return to the Bar V K Airport in Bolivar when it struck the tree, the FAA report said.

The crash occurred about 1:45 p.m. and only the pilot and passenger were injured. The injuries were listed as minor.

The plane is registered to an individual owner in Charlottesville, Virginia, FAA records show.

The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the ongoing investigation.
