Family holds observance ceremony 3 years after Lina Khil’s disappearance, father raises reward by $30K

Friday, Dec. 20, marks three years since Lina Khil disappeared on San Antonio’s northwest side.

Investigators have yet to find the missing child or any suspects involved in the case.

“Most often, we feel like we’ve been lied to by SAPD,” Lina’s father, Riaz Sardar Khil, said, speaking through a translator at an observance ceremony dedicated to Lina on Friday.

Lina’s father criticized the San Antonio Police Department for not being transparent with them regarding sharing information about his daughter’s case.

“We have been going through every route with SAPD, he said. “We share that with Pamela Allen as well, but so far, we are not provided with information that could get us in finding Lina.”

Lina’s mother told investigators she was on the playground of the Villas Del Cabo apartment complex in the 9400 block of Fredericksburg Road on Dec. 20, 2021, when she disappeared. Lina’s mother told the police she had gone inside the apartment quickly, but when she returned, Lina was gone.

Lina was 3 years old at the time.

Her family reported her missing at 7:15 p.m. on Dec. 20, 2021.

At the time, Lina was wearing a black jacket, red dress and black shoes when she disappeared.

Earlier this year, The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children posted an age-progressed image that shows how Lina may look today at 6 years old.

A tip to law enforcement sparked a search in February 2024.

Drone video showed crews searching a wooded area near Interstate 10 and Wurzbach Road, roughly a mile from where Lina disappeared.

After the two-day search, SAPD said the tip was “not credible.”

Lina’s family reminds the public of a $250,000 reward for any information that can help find her, with her father raising the amount by $30,000 during the ceremony, bringing the total to $280,000.

Anyone with information that can help is asked to call San Antonio police at 210-207-7273.
