FBI: Active scene in Texas in connection with New Orleans terror attack

Federal and local authorities are on the scene of an active investigation in Houston, Texas, which they said is related to the deadly terror attack on New Year’s Day in New Orleans. >> LIVE UPDATES | Follow WDSU’s team coverage of the investigationAccording to FBI Houston, federal agents and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are conducting law enforcement activity near the intersection of Hugh Road and Crescent Peak Drive in north Houston.The FBI confirmed the activity is related to Wednesday morning’s Bourbon Street attack, but due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, no further information can be provided.The FBI confirmed it has secured a perimeter in that area and agents are asking people to avoid the area. FBI Houston personnel and specialized teams will be on-site for several hours. NBC affiliate KPRC 2 Houston reported that a SWAT team brought several people, including children, out of a home. A man was also seen surrendering to SWAT, according to KPRC. A driver plowed a pickup truck into the crowd at about 3:15 a.m. Wednesday on Bourbon Street, killing at least 15 people and injuring dozens more. An ISIS flag was located in the truck and the FBI is working to determine if the suspect had associations or affiliations with the terrorist organization.

Multiple law enforcement confirmed that Jabbar was from the Houston area and public records list multiple addresses for him in north Harris County, as well as Fresno and Beaumont.

According to the FBI, agents do not believe he acted alone.
