FC Dallas is losing 15,966 minutes of players heading into 2025. What happens now?

FC Dallas enters a new era with Eric Quill, trading stars and focusing on young talent development.

FRISCO, Texas — FC Dallas‘ offseason has made one thing clear: the “reset” button has been punched in the first year of the Eric Quill era.

The highlight-grabbing departures will center around homegrown talent Jesus Ferreira, captain Paul Arriola and arguably the club’s best “asset” in Young Designated Player forward Alan Velasco.

Other key pieces that were pivotal to the FC Dallas starting lineup in recent years like Asier Illarramendi and Nkosi Tafari were not brought back, as well.

FC Dallas players logged, in total, 33,660 minutes last season. Of those, 15,966 minutes (47.4%) of those were logged by players who are not returning in 2025. Those players also accounted for 21/51 goals scored and 27/58 (includes “hockey assists”; pass before the final pass) assists in the season.

Meanwhile, the club is turning the page on a new set of younger players: resigning top 2024 draft pick Logan Farrington, homegrown midfielder Bernard Kamungo and a slew of “call-ups” from the MLS NEXT Pro affiliate club, North Texas SC.

FC Dallas fans will recognize two offseason signings: FC Dallas academy product Shaq Moore and longtime Colorado Rapids center back Lalas Abubakar.

Sources close to FC Dallas told WFAA that they’re actually looking into signing two “big name” players from within MLS. This makes sense given the amount of money they’ve been bringing in with the trades. Notable names rumored to be on the market have been Portland’s Evander and FC Cincy’s Lucho Acosta – and FC Dallas is in need of an attacking center midfielder.

Here is a look at FC Dallas’ busy offseason:
