FC Dallas hosts its first MLS match in over a month after regular season play took a break for Leagues Cup.
FRISCO, Texas — Welcome back, FC Dallas fans!
It’s been about a month-and-half since there’s been a MLS match at Toyota Stadium after the league took a break in July for Leagues Cup. Now that regular season has resumed, FC Dallas hosts Colorado Rapids after a high-octane 4-3 win against D.C. United last week.
Colorado comes to town sitting pretty in the No. 4 spot in the Western Conference, while FC Dallas is on the outside looking in at a playoff position (No. 10). There are eight games left in the MLS regular season, and head coach Peter Luccin has said the club believes they now have what it takes – with a cleaner bill of health among the team’s best players, most notably Alan Velasco – to make a push for a playoff spot.
Including this match against Colorado, FC Dallas has an even split of four home matches and four road games for the rest of the year. Grabbing as many points as they can at home will be crucial, especially given the club’s away record thus far. That D.C. United match was their first road win of the season (1-8-4).
Fun side note: Saturday night is Star Wars Night, so stick around after the match for a fireworks, done show and LED light show set to a Star Wars theme.
