Former North Texas police officer arrested, accused of lying on report, aggravated assault

According to police, the incident occurred back in May 2024.

LAKE WORTH, Texas — A former Lake Worth police officer turned himself into the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday after being indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

According to the Lake Worth Police Department, on Nov. 8, a Tarrant County Grand Jury returned an indictment related to an on-duty use of force incident involving 44-year-old Landon Rollins.

The indictment alleges that on May 14, 2024, Rollins hit a man with a radio or a hard object causing bodily harm and proceeded to lie about it in the incident report, claiming the man hit his head on concrete.

Lake Worth PD said the Texas Rangers were asked to investigate the incident and present all findings to the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office.

According to Lake Worth PD, Rollins was terminated from the department on July 8 for violating multiple policies.

“The Lake Worth Police Department is filled with talented men and women who serve with incredible integrity, professionalism and accountability,” the department said in a news release. “The department has and will continue to hold members accountable who fail to uphold the high standards expected of a Lake Worth police officer.”

Lake Worth PD said it respects the Tarrant County Grand Jury’s decision in this case.
