AUSTIN (KXAN) — For the first time this season a Freeze Warning was issued for the the Austin Metro counties and the majority of Central Texas ahead of our coldest night since last winter.
Temperatures are expected to drop to freezing or below freezing by Wednesday morning in most areas bringing the first widespread freeze in months.
Counties that have already seen their first freeze won’t get additional Freeze Warnings for the rest of fall/winter, but we still expect at or below freezing temperatures in Mason, San Saba, Lampasas and (most likely) Milam Counties.
3 out of the 4 P’s apply overnight into Wednesday morning
Don’t forget about the Four P’s: People, Pets, Plants and Pipes ahead of this overnight freeze. However, we don’t anticipate temperatures will be cold enough to negatively impact our pipes.
Temperatures will bounce back from a freezing morning to a pleasant afternoon on Wednesday with sunshine and mid 60s.
We’ll see one last cold night tomorrow night into Thursday morning with lows flirting with freezing in spots (away from Austin) before warmer nights return.
Our days will also get warmer with 70s making a comeback by Friday with low 70s continuing through the weekend.
Some low rain chances are in the forecast Friday through next week, but the best chances for rain look to be focused on next Monday.
Stay tuned…
