One person was treated for smoke inhalation and was released at the scene, the department said. The home next-door is a total loss, fire officials added.
FRISCO, Texas — Firefighters are battling a fire that broke out at a Frisco home on Monday afternoon, sending plumes of smoke into the air.
The Frisco Fire Department says the fire broke out around 4:08 p.m. in the 6300 block of Memorial Drive and Chapel Creek Blvd, which is less than a mile east of the Dallas North Tollway.
When firefighters arrived, the under-construction home was completely engulfed in flames, causing the fire to spread to the house next door. Crews said a fence also caught fire but was quickly extinguished.
The owner of the home adjacent to the one under construction was not there at the time of the fire; according to fire officials, the damage done to it left it a total loss.
One person was treated for smoke inhalation and was released at the scene, the department said.
In a post to X, the department urged residents in the Chapel Creek neighborhood to avoid the area while crews worked to douse the two-alarm fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. A fire spokesperson told WFAA that the circumstances surrounding the fire were abnormal, including when the fire started and the fact that weather was not involved.
No construction crews were at the home under construction when the fire began, and there’s been little activity there for weeks, according to neighbors.
This is a developing story WFAA will update this story as soon as more information becomes available.
