Getting to George Strait at Kyle Field and what not to bring

College Station, Texas (KBTX) – After months of anticipation, we’re now less than 24 hours away from Aggieland’s historic George Strait concert. Around 100-thousand tickets have been sold.

Organizers say there’s a few changes from last Saturday’s Mexico/Brazil soccer match at Kyle Field where there were more than 85-thousand in attendance, but that most is the same.

The perimeter of some fencing has been changed to give fans more space as they enter through the detectors.

“Do not empty your bags. You don’t need to empty your pockets. Just walk right through. The detector will tell us if it’s time for you to empty your bag or anything like that.”

Kindra Fry, Texas A&M’s Assistant Athletic Director for Special Event Services says the detectors will go off if you need further inspection.

“We want people to just be able to walk through freely and get in to where they need to go and get to the different gates to scan their tickets to go in,” said Fry.

She says there will be people to help direct you.

The clear bag policy is still in effect. Also no food, firearms tobacco of any kind, strollers or lawn chairs are allowed. Here is a list of prohibited items.

“We are not allowing signs. We’re not allowing banners and things like that. Cameras, stick to your cell phone cameras… One thing that did change that you can bring in, is that you can bring in a bottle of water with you here to the show. You can bring that bottle of water, it just needs to be sealed,” said Fry.

Doors to the stadium open at four p.m.

There will be pre show festivities in the plaza from 2:30 to 6:30.

There is also tailgating in Aggie Park and around Reed Arena.

As for parking, here is a link to a parking map and parking information.

Campus parking lots open at noon.

If you haven’t prebought reservations, you’re looking at being on the outskirts of campus.

Those with Texas A&M parking permits may park in designated areas for free show your barcode upon entry.

You can also use free downtown Bryan shuttles that go between Roy Kelly parking garage and the Memorial Student Center.

There is also a free shuttle from Century Square to Kyle Field.

The show begins at 6:00 PM with Catie Offerman opening. Parker McCollum follows AT 7:15. Then George Strait is set to take the stage at 9:15.
