SAN ANTONIO – Governor Greg Abbott announced Sunday that Texas Department of Public Safety operations are expected to “expand in coming days” as part of immigration enforcement efforts.
Abbott made the announcement through X, formerly known as Twitter, that Texas DPS troopers and special agents will assist the Department of Homeland Security in “targeting and removing illegal immigrants.”
The operation aligns with President Donald Trump’s plan to remove immigrants from the U.S., which he emphasized during his campaign.
Abbott’s full statement is below:
“Today, Texas Dept. of Public Safety Troopers & Special Agents are deployed to assist President Trump’s Homeland Security Investigations in targeting and removing illegal immigrants. These DPS operations are expected to expand in the coming days.”
