Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Kimberly Crawford, Sherri Merket, Thomas Neuhoff, and Susan Warren to the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy for terms set to expire on January 31, 2029. Additionally, the Governor named Debra Seefeld as Chair. The Board protects the public by ensuring that persons issued certificates as certified public accountants (CPAs) possess the necessary education, skills, and capabilities and that they perform competently in the profession of public accountancy.
Debra Seefeld of Montgomery is a CPA with more than 25 years of public accounting experience. She retired as an audit partner with Crowe LLP in December 2022. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Texas Society of CPAs, and the Houston Society of CPAs. Seefeld received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Sam Houston State University. Her appointment as chair is not subject to Senate confirmation.
Kimberly Crawford of Arlington is a partner at Sutton Frost Cary LLP. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Texas Society of CPAs, and the Fort Worth Chapter of TXCPA. Additionally, she is treasurer of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Arlington, and Women Inspiring Philanthropy, and a member of the Dean’s Leadership Circle for The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) College of Business and the Ladies’ Auxiliary of Arlington. Crawford received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Science in Accounting from UTA.
Sherri Merket of Midland is executive assistant to the principal of Hillander School. She is a member of the Midland County Historical Commission. Previously, she served as a member of the Texas Credit Union Commission. Merket received an associate degree in Management and Child Development from Midland College.
Thomas Neuhoff of Tyler is the chief financial officer of Herd Family Office, LLC. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs, the CFP Board, and the CFA Institute. Additionally, he serves on the board of Leadership Tyler and the advisory council for The Mentoring Alliance. Neuhoff received a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Auburn University and a Master of Arts in Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin.
Susan Warren of Georgetown is a partner at KPMG, LLP. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Texas Society of CPAs. Warren received a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Texas Christian University.
