Governor Abbott urges Texans to report winter weather damages

AUSTIN, Texas — Governor Greg Abbott is urging Texans affected by this week’s winter weather to report property damages using the Texas Division of Emergency Management’s online tool. The Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT) survey helps assess damage severity and supports federal disaster assistance efforts.

“The State of Texas continues to work with local officials to provide all available resources to Texans impacted by this week’s winter weather,” said Governor Abbott. Texans can report damages at damage.tdem.texas.gov , where surveys are available in English and Spanish. The iSTAT tool is voluntary and does not replace insurance reporting or guarantee disaster relief, according to the Office of the Governor.

The Texas State Operations Center remains at Level II (Escalated Response) to assist with recovery efforts. Despite the majority of ice and snow leaving the state, hazardous road conditions may persist, especially on bridges and overpasses. Texans are advised to stay weather aware and follow local officials’ directions. Additional resources, including warming center information, are available at tdem.texas.gov.

Governor Abbott has activated state emergency response resources and increased the readiness level of the State Emergency Operations Center to support local communities.
