Grand Prairie High School closed due to construction accident

Grand Prairie High School will close Thursday, the district announced.

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — Grand Prairie High School will close Thursday due to a construction accident, the district announced.

The high school was forced to close due to a “preconstruction accident” that affected electrical service to the campus, the school said in a statement.

The high school will close Thursday and reopen Tuesday, April 22, the school said. Friday and Monday are school holidays for Easter weekend.

During construction work Wednesday, crews cut the school’s electrical main, knocking out power to the campus, the district said in a statement. The repair will take a significant amount of time, prompting the school to cancel classes for the day, the statement reads.

Staff will continue working from other locations in the district, the school said.
