The City of Westworth Village said officers were dispatched to a home in 2023, and officers were fired upon. Jacob LaGrone was arrested and charged in the incident.
TARRANT COUNTY, Texas — Editor’s note: The video published above is a report by WFAA after LaGrone had a motion hearing in 2023 for the three counts he faces of allegedly assaulting police officers.
The groom in what was dubbed as “the wedding of the century” – which went viral on social media and reportedly cost $59 million – and is facing multiple counts of assaulting police officers now has a trial date, according to court records.
Jacob LaGrone, 30, will go on trial in mid-November where he faces three counts of assault on a public servant, a first-degree felony. LaGrone’s charges stem from an incident in March 2023 where Westworth Village city officials said three officers – one from Westworth Village PD and two from Westover Hills PD – responded to the home “at which time they were fired upon.”
The indictment in the case said LaGrone “did intentionally and knowingly threaten imminent bodily injury” to the officers and “did use or exhibit a deadly weapon during the commission of the assault, namely, a firearm.” The indictment did not specify where exactly the incident happened, but named three officers: C. Munoz of Westworth Village police and C. Wilson and J. Dunlap, both of Westover Hills police.
LaGrone went to a motion hearing related to the case in November 2023, and WFAA approached LaGrone – who was fitted in a Navy suit and black shoes – for comment in the Tarrant County courthouse, but he did not comment.
Instead, LaGrone’s bodyguard pushed WFAA’s camera away, and led his client back behind closed doors.
One week after LaGrone’s motion hearing, his wife, Madelaine Brockway, daughter of tycoon Bob Brockway, who runs a group of Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Florida but lives in the Fort Worth area, went dark on social media. Madelaine Brockway deleted her TikTok account and set her Instagram page to private.
A company involved with the wedding, HMR Designs, also removed at least some of its content about the wedding from TikTok.
The wedding was a five-day celebration in Paris, France, including an overnight stay at the Palace of Versailles, a rehearsal dinner at the French capital’s Opera House, a private lunch at the Chanel Haute Couture Suite and a reception performance from the pop-rock band Maroon 5.
At the time of LaGrone’s motion hearing in November 2023, WFAA reported Bob Brockway owned five residential properties in the county, valued at $3.7 million, $2.07 million, $1.1 million, $673,000 and $200,000, according to the Tarrant County Appraisal District website.
LaGrone’s trial is set for November 14. If convicted, LaGrone faces either life in prison or a sentence of not more than 99 years or less than five. In 2023, LaGrone was offered a plea deal of 25 years by the Tarrant County District Attorney, documents showed.
