The Pharr Economic Development Corporation (EDC) welcomed everyone to celebrate an exciting milestone for another great commercial development in Pharr, expressing gratitude for the investment made by the Impulso Development team. The event marked the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 10,000-square-foot building to become a Dollar Tree location.

Victor Perez, President and CEO of Pharr EDC, shared insights into the joint efforts to attract businesses to Pharr. He praised the swift progress made in the current project since the last time he met the developers in Monterrey, crediting the readiness and dedication of the Impulso Development team. Perez also acknowledged the community’s demand for more restaurants and shopping venues, noting that the new development aligns perfectly with these expectations.

Perez further highlighted the strategic significance of the project’s location, emphasizing its high traffic and proximity to key areas. He also hinted at future business developments in the area, reinforcing the city’s commitment to supporting ongoing and future projects.

Marcelo Marcos, CEO of Impulso Developments, expressed his gratitude and optimism during his speech. He described the groundbreaking of the new Dollar Tree location as a symbol of resilience, determination, and optimism amidst economic challenges. Marcos underlined the Rio Grande Valley’s attractiveness for investment, citing its rapid population growth and low commercial vacancy rates. He reiterated Impulso Developments’ dedication to sustainable development and community prosperity.

The new Dollar Tree at 701 West Nolana Loop will occupy a 0.88-acre lot with 10,000 square feet of leasable area. The total investment for this project is $2.4 million, and completion is expected within the next six months. Marcos thanked the investors, the Pharr EDC, and partners who supported the project.

Perez emphasized the significant impact of commercial developments on the city’s economy. These projects create jobs across various sectors, from construction to retail and food service, supporting local families and driving regional economic growth. The city of Pharr highly values such investments, which are essential for thriving communities.

Perez presented him with a token of appreciation on behalf of the Pharr EDC and Mayor Dr. Ambrosio Hernandez. The event continued with remarks from Andres Lankenau, President of Impulso Development. Lancanu acknowledged the combined efforts of various stakeholders, including Vantage Bank and Enrique Garza, a valued partner in the construction project. He invited attendees to lunch to continue the celebration and strengthen relationships.

Representing Mayor Dr. Ambrosio Hernandez, Commissioner Ricardo Medina addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of new businesses in generating sales tax revenue. This revenue is crucial for improving residents’ services, such as enhancing the police and fire departments. Commissioner Medina expressed gratitude for the businesses investing in Pharr, acknowledging their role in the city’s growth and prosperity.

Several elected officials and key contributors were recognized during the event, including Commissioner Ricardo Medina, Commissioner Michael Pacheco, and Pharr EDC Board Member Ray Perez. Special thanks to the Public Works and Parks and Recreation Department and the media teams for their invaluable support in organizing the event.
