“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12
George,
Forty years ago, a sudden accident changed my life forever: while out for a jog one summer, a tree fell on me and left me partially paralyzed.
The Scripture passage James 1:12, among many others, got me through the most difficult season of my life. I had faith in God, and I knew he had a plan for me.
I often say our lives are not defined by the challenges we encounter but our response to those challenges.
This rings true for our state and its people, too.
Due to federal inaction to secure the Texas-Mexico border, our state has taken unprecedented action to defend our sovereign border through Operation Lone Star. Actions such as transporting migrants to sanctuary cities to relieve overwhelmed border communities, building the Texas border wall, seizing deadly fentanyl, installing new border barriers, and deploying Texas National Guard soldiers and DPS troopers.
Texas continues to endure through challenges and thrive, and I am honored to serve as your Governor to see us through it all.
Since I was first elected Governor in 2014, I am proud to share that Texas has added millions of new jobs, employing more Texans than ever before. We have over 3 million small businesses that employ nearly half of all working Texans, and we’re #1 for Fortune 500 company headquarters.
No matter what challenge or opportunity is thrown our way, Texas remains the best place in the nation to live, work, and raise a family – and it’s a result of decades of strong conservative leadership that stays true to the Texas values of liberty, personal freedom, law and order, and free enterprise.
Hi, this is Greg Abbott. Whether you were born in Texas, moved here yesterday, or are following along from afar, I’m glad you’re here.
If you didn’t know, a tree fell on me while I was out jogging in my 20s and left me paralyzed from the waist down. Supported by my family and faith, I pulled through that difficult time and recognized life is defined not by the challenges we face, but by how we respond to those challenges.
This rings true for our state and its people, too.
Texas has always been a land of freedom and opportunity. Since we won our independence as a sovereign nation in 1836, Texas has been the natural home for entrepreneurs, adventurers, pioneers, and leaders. My job as Governor of Texas is to defend the values that keep Texas #1! We are off to a great start.
Since I became Governor, Texas has added more than 2 million new jobs. We’re home to over 3 million small businesses that employ nearly half of all working Texans, and we’re #1 for Fortune 500 company headquarters. We’re also #1 for economic development, exports, and jobs created by Black business owners, Hispanic women business owners, and veteran women business owners.
In Texas, everyone can succeed.
My wife Cecilia, the first Hispanic First Lady of Texas, our daughter, Audrey, and I – plus our three Golden Retrievers, Peaches, Pancake, and Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit – love this great state and are proud to call it home. My life is defined by public service, and I’m honored to continue to serve as your Governor.
