Texas-based grocer H-E-B announced Tuesday it would be opening a second Joe V’s Smart Shop in Dallas-Fort Worth just over nine months after the first location opened in southern Dallas.
The first Joe V’s Smart Shop, which generally has prices about 10% to 20% cheaper than traditional H-E-B stores, in June 2024 opened on Wheatland Road . The second location is set to open on Wednesday, March 26 along Samuell Boulevard near Walmart and Sam’s Club.
This second Joe V’s Smart Shop location adds to H-E-B’s increasing footprint in the Metroplex. Joe V’s Smart Shop first opened in Houston in 2010 as a response to the 2008 financial crisis when many people lost their jobs and shoppers felt their wallets pinched, the Dallas Business Journal previously reported. To date, there are 10 Joe V’s Smart Shops in Houston and the southern Dallas location, officials said in a release, so this will be No. 12.
The typical Joe V’s is around 55,000 square feet, about half the size of an H-E-B.
