The recalled Häagen-Dazs ice cream bars could trigger a life-threatening allergic reaction for some people.
WASHINGTON — Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream is recalling some Häagen-Dazs chocolate dark chocolate mini ice cream bars sold in more than 30 states due to an undeclared allergen.
The recalled ice cream treats may contain undeclared wheat, which could lead to a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction for those with an allergy or severe sensitivity, according to the company announcement.
The recalled ice cream bars were shipped to Kroger stores in 29 states and Giant Eagle stores in 5 states:
- Kroger: (Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming)
- Giant Eagle: (Indiana, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia)
The recall only includes Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Dark Chocolate Mini Bars in the 6-count package with batch code LLA519501 and a Best By date of January 31, 2027. The code and best-by date can be found on the packaging.
Those with a wheat allergy or sensitivity who have purchased the recalled ice cream treats should throw it out or return it to their place of purchase for a full refund.

Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream said it is still investigating, but believes products containing wheat were repacked into the wrong packaging at the start of a production run.
The company did not say exactly how many mini ice cream bars or boxes have been recalled, but described it as a “limited number” in the recall notice.
“The safety, quality, and integrity of our products remain our number one priority. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail customers,” the company added in its recall.
