FORECAST
COLDER, SUNNY, & WINDY SUNDAY
After a very cold start, plenty of sunshine is expected this evening, but a gusty north winds continue through at least lunchtime, before starting to subside a bit this afternoon.
HARD FREEZE MONDAY MORNING, FRIGID MLK MARCH
With clear skies in place, temperatures will plummet Sunday night with a hard freeze expected by Monday morning.
Expect widespread lows in the mid-20s, with even some upper-teens possible in the Hill Country. Feels-like temperatures in the teens are expected for most of the area by sunrise.
For the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March, you’ll want to dress very warm with temperatures in the 30s throughout the event and increasing cloud cover by late morning. It will still be a bit breezy during this timeframe, with winds out of the northeast at 10 to 15 miles per hour, making it still feel a few degrees colder.
WINTRY MIX BY MONDAY EVENING
Additional moisture moves into South Central Texas by Monday evening, leading to increasing chances of a wintry mix for much of the area. Main timeframe to watch: 4 p.m. Monday through noon on Tuesday.
Impacts still look to be relatively minor, however a light glazing will be possible on elevated surfaces (street signs, decks, car windshields) as well as a few slick spots on area roadways (especially bridges and overpasses), especially by Tuesday morning.
As of right now, ice accumulations still look somewhat light (up to 0.10″+), as well as any sleet and snow accumulations (up to generally 1″+) for most of the area.
There’s still some room for adjustments to totals over the next 24 hours, so be sure to check back for updates.
MORE COLD MORNINGS
While any precipitation moves out by Tuesday afternoon, hard freezes continue through at least Wednesday morning. You’ll want to make sure that people, pets, plants and pipes are all prepped before the weekend is over.
We’ll keep you posted! Until then, have a great rest of your weekend.
