COLD AIR ON THE WAY
Arctic air will spill into the U.S. from Canada and is likely to cause a noticeable change across Texas starting Monday. This won’t be like February 2021, but brief light freezes and chilly days can be expected.
As of now, we’re expecting near-freezing mornings followed by afternoon highs dropping from near 50° Monday and Tuesday, to near or below 40° Wednesday through Friday. An extended period of time spent below freezing is NOT expected in San Antonio, but folks in the Hill Country with exposed pipes should be prepared to take the necessary precautions – just in case.
PRECIPITATION
The big wild card, however, is a slight chance of wintry precipitation. If – and that’s still an if – that were to happen, it would most likely be across portions of the Hill Country Thursday and Friday mornings.
That’s only if specific conditions come together just right, and many questions still remain. As of now odds favor a cold rain around San Antonio, but the margin is still thin so we won’t let our guard down just yet.
It’s going to come down to exactly how cold it gets – not just here at the ground but also up to 10k feet above the ground – and every single degree counts. Unfortunately, those details are unreliable this far out, but we’ll keep you updated on the potential.
