Heavy police presence reported outside Cinemark theater in Cedar Hill

   

Police say didn’t find an explosive device and one person was taken in protective custody pending a mental health evaluation.

CEDAR HILL, Texas — A heavy police presence was reported outside a Cinemark theater in Cedar Hill Friday afternoon as officers investigated a report of a suspicious device in the area, police confirm. The all-clear was given as of about 3 p.m. and no explosive device was found, police say.

The Dallas Bomb Squad was called to investigate a package and a vehicle and a person was taken into protective custody for a mental health evaluation, police say. 

Nearby personnel were evacuated, officials say. 

WFAA chopper footage showed multiple police vehicles at the theater at 280 Uptown Boulevard.
