A city north of Fort Worth could be closer to getting an H-E-B after a city commission voted to approve new zoning for a retail and office project.
The Argyle Planning & Zoning commission voted March 7 to recommend approval of a multi-phase development on 124 acres at the southwest corner of I-35 West and Robson Ranch Road. The mixed-use project could include a 150,000-square-foot H-E-B grocery store, a Baylor Scott & White wellness campus and more. The development was scaled back from 195 acres, after months of meetings and tabled decisions.
The decision now goes to Argyle Town Council, with a vote possible March 17.
Property owner Jim Willis previously told the commission he was in a race with Denton for the grocery store, which is also considering a site across from Hunter Ranch, where Hillwood is building a master-planned community called Landmark. Willis told the commission that a zoning vote needed to happen in March or the grocer would be gone.
