Leave it to former First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to use the anniversary of 9/11 to slip in some thinly veiled attacks on her opponents during her appearance on CNN’s State of the Union Sunday. She started out with some nice memories of British monarch Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away Thursday; then she moved on to speak about the unity displayed by our leaders after the horrendous terrorist attacks of 2001. Harmless stuff:
I take no issue with these comments. But it’s not long before she works in a little nod toward Democrats’ favorite enemy these days, dangerous extremists:
We have done our best to take care of the families that lost so much on that terrible day. And we have also, I think, been reminded about how important it is to try to deal with extremism of any kind, especially when it uses violence to try to achieve political and ideological goals. (Emphasis mine.)
Why are we talking “extremism of any kind” on the anniversary of 9/11? We know exactly who attacked us: the violent, murderous Islamic extremist group Al Qaeda. Why can’t she say that? Probably because that’s not the extremism she’s worried about these days. Watch:
Later on in the segment, however, she shows her true colors. Asked by host Dana Bash whether our leaders could ever again unite in the same way they did after 9/11, Clinton said:
…I give President Biden a lot of credit for trying to continue to reach out to people, while still sounding the alarm about the threats to our democracy.
Are you kidding me? “Reach out to people?” As I reported, Biden in early September dropped one of the most divisive, hate-filled speeches in the history of our presidency. He demonized huge swaths of Americans in an angry, shouting voice, exhorting:
And here, in my view, is what is true: MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people. They refuse to accept the results of a free election. And they’re working right now, as I speak, in state after state to give power to decide elections in America to partisans and cronies, empowering election deniers to undermine democracy itself.
This is reaching out to people?!
It’s Hillary’s conclusion however that gives the game away. She, like Biden, believes that the enemy of our country is the half of the population that doesn’t agree with her and Joe’s policies. This would be easier to swallow if Biden’s actions were a smashing success, but as we know they’ve been anything but and have driven the country into the ground. Instead of offering a unifying message, she has to slam what one can only assume are conservatives:
“So we are in a funny position, Dana,” Clinton says in the clip, “because there’s a small, but very vocal, very powerful, very determined minority who wants to impose their views on all the rest of us. And it’s time for everybody, regardless of party, to say, no, that’s not who we are as America.”
Her message of unity on the anniversary of 9/11 is to blame a “small minority” of Americans who wants to impose their views on the rest of us. What absolute malarkey. I’m sick of Democratic politicians telling us “who America is.” First of all, they don’t get to decide that. Second, there is no one America, no one opinion; we are a diverse collection of over 330 million people. Interestingly, there is a small, vocal, powerful, determined minority who are behind censorship, cancel culture and the grooming of kids, and it ain’t anyone sporting a MAGA hat. A huge part of the American experiment was to let people have their own views. Now you’re a violent extremist if you don’t like Joe’s latest spending spree.
Politicians like Biden and Hillary Clinton seem to be going out of their way these days to divide the country and put anyone whose ideas they disagree with into a “basket of deplorable.” None of this is new, but it seems to be getting worse lately. To bash your political opponents on 9/11, however, shows an utter lack of class.
