SAN ANTONIO – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Honda is recalling 294,612 vehicles due to safety concerns.
A statement from the NHTSA reported that certain models of the Acura and Honda Pilot are being recalled because the engine could hesitate or stall.

The following Honda models are affected:

Acura MDX Type-S manufactured from Apr. 2021 to Dec. 2024

Honda Pilots manufactured from Sep. 2022 to Jan. 2025

Acura TLX Type-S manufactured from Dec. 2020 to Nov. 2024
The defect is due to a problem with the fuel injection electronic control unit (FI-ECU) settings. The statement said sudden changes in the throttle opening could cause the Check Engine Light to turn on and the engine to lose power, hesitate or stall.
As a result, the risk of a crash and injuries from a crash are increased. No injuries have been reported from this malfunction as of this writing.
According to the statement, Honda plans to send letters to affected owners from Jan. 28 to Mar. 17. Owners will be asked to take their vehicles to authorized Acura or Honda dealers so the FI-ECU can be reprogrammed.
If any owners have already paid for these repairs, they may be eligible for reimbursement, per NTHSA’s recall reimbursement plan.
